A recently built design by Prof. Nelson Chen for St. Andrew’s Church Life Centre in Kowloon has received two Honor Awards in Architecture from the AIA Hong Kong Chapter in 2015 and, most recently, the AIA International Region in 2016. In both instances, it was the only Honor Award premiated in the architecture category. The project is a new auditorium extension that is largely built underground on a 110-year-old heritage site.
