Congratulations to our BSSc Year 4 students, Jen Chu, Andy Wan, Ben Kwan and Ella Choi, whose project "Ocean | Cliff" received an Honorable Mention on December 3rd in the Museum of Emotions #5 competition organised by Buildner, a world's leading architecture competition organiser!

The competition explored how architecture can evoke emotions by designing a museum with two contrasting exhibition halls: one that induces positive emotions and another that stirs negative feelings. As part of Buildner’s silent series, all submissions were visual, without any text.

"Ocean | Cliff" features two distinct structures: a mirror and a staircase, emphasising the contrast between the ocean and the cliff. As visitors embark from the ocean, they are drawn toward the mirror that conceals the cliff, creating an initial illusion of calmness. Passing beneath the mirror, they confront the oppressive boundary of the cliff, with a staircase alongside the vertical expanse.

At the summit, breathtaking views unfold, revealing the cliff’s edge, the reflective structure, and the ocean beyond. Ultimately, "Ocean | Cliff" reflects the nature of life itself: overcoming unexpected challenges while continually striving for a brighter tomorrow. In the interview, the winning students from Year 4 said, "Architects play a crucial role in creating spaces that enhance the human experience."
