Introduction
As the world is confronting growing environmental and social challenges in the twenty-first century, research in architecture and the built environment has become increasingly crucial for conceiving new paradigms of habitation for a sustainable and equitable future. The production of new knowledge and translating such knowledge into actions require a strong understanding of theories, refined research skills, and the development of critical perspectives. Pursuing a degree in MPhil and PhD offers these transformative opportunities.
The MPhil and PhD in Architecture are research degrees. They are catered for those seeking careers in teaching and research in architecture and its related disciplines, as well as in professional practice and institutions that require specialisation in research. Students admitted to the program carry out advanced study and research, with a combination of coursework and individual investigation.
Throughout each academic year, the School organizes a range of research activities, including public lectures, discussion forums, symposiums and themed workshops.
