Curating Homes: A Guide to Residential Design for Ageing-in-Place
Published by the CUHK JC Institute of Ageing, this essential resource focuses on designing senior living environments, providing a toolkit of architectural and operational strategies, aligned with the World Health Organization's principles of Healthy Ageing. Funded by Chinachem Group, this public-private partnership represents a five-year collaboration that draws insights from professionals in medicine, social work, and the built environment, along with the lived experiences of older adults and their caregivers in Hong Kong.
Available for free download and at Hong Kong public libraries, the guide facilitates knowledge exchange among architects and encourages adaptations for mainstream housing and post-occupancy evaluations. This also invites community participation in the design process, aiming to foster a user-centered environment that enhances social inclusion and health equity, ultimately empowering individuals to express their needs and ensuring that designs reflect community values from the outset.
