The objective of this unit is to serve as an introduction to 3D computer
graphics technologies, modelling, rendering and fabrication. It helps to
understand specifications of 3D geometric entities within a
sophisticated modelling package; assign colour and texture information
to geometric entities; generate complex images; develop
skills processing images; and develop transferable conceptual skills
that apply across different 3D packages and for different contexts
such as modeling, animation, games assets, rendering and digital fabrication. This unit explores advanced systems of computer graphics
in the context of design and visual communication. A broad range of graphics technologies are
considered with emphasis on 3D modelling and fabrication. This
unit of study develops conceptual understanding and practical
application of these techniques using commercial modelling and
rendering packages. At the conclusion of this unit you are
conversant with 3D modelling, rendering and fabrication methods and
have the ability to produce sophisticated digtial and analogue models and advanced visualisation systems and methods.
